During the past few months, UCS’s crew has been
busy traveling the Eastern United States, assembling
structures in Maryland and Pennsylvania. While there, we
built friendships with the congregations and building
professionals.
On May 6, our crew left to begin assembling a 70’
dome for Corinth Baptist Church in Capitol Heights,
Maryland. On this project, we worked with the
architectural firm of Frederick Ward & Associates,
from Bel Air, Maryland, and the general contracting firm
of Warder & Associates, from Clinton, Maryland.
Delays had postponed the project from it's original
January date, but we were pleased to have the
opportunity to assemble the new worship facility for
Pastor Dickens and his congregation. Likewise, Pastor
Dickens and his congregation have been extremely
thankful for the tremendous help they have received from
Warder & Associates. They have gone the extra mile
to make this project a reality.
While our crew was in Capitol Heights, UCS
representative, Shawn Barrett, visited the job-site.
While there, she and Carol Richardson visited Mt.
Calvary Baptist Church as the two projects are only 10
minutes from each other. Carol Richardson is with
Tabernacle Builders of Villa Rica, Georgia. She is a
professional photographer and was able to get some great
shots of the Lanham church (they can be accessed from
our website). Mt. Calvary’s 120’ dome was assembled
in March of 2000. Their design included a 20’ sidewall
in order to accommodate their large balcony. With the
balcony, the Auditorium can seat 1,200 people. The two
story, 42,000 square foot complex finished for roughly
$5.2 million.
On Monday, June 24, our crew was back on the road to
assemble a 120' dome for Shiloh Baptist Church, in
Easton, Pennsylvania. Cedar Design, Z Architects, and
C.C., Inc., Construction Services are the design and
general contracting partners. We want to thank Leo
McCarthy, Chuck Werkheiser, Tom Smolick, and the staff
of C.C., Inc., for going above and beyond when we needed
assistance on-site. We are looking forward to a long
working relationship with our new friends and partners.
